Slava Grigoryan  & Al Slavik
‘And so, it turns’

Australian guitarist Slava Grigoryan and Austrian bassist Al Slavik re-unite for an Australian tour celebrating the release of their 3rd album
‘And so, it turns’

A chance meeting in London in the mid-nineties led to a strong personal and musical bond between Australia’s premier classical guitarist and an Austrian electric bass player more ensconced in the pop/rock world of the time.

What could possibly go wrong?…..nothing as it turns out.

With their wide and varied individual influences, they found common ground releasing two albums, Another Night in London (Sony,1999) and Continental Shift (Which Way Music, 2005).  They waited for the right time and place to add to their catalogue, and as it happens December 2025 in Italy seemed appropriate (these guys aren’t in any sort of a rush). You see, it’s all about coming together and creating something of beauty.

They’ve succeeded. Again.

For this tour they will perform pieces from
‘And so, it turns’
plus a selection from their previous albums.

Listen to Morning Hymn from ‘And so, it turns’

“The best music in the world – the kind that touches places in us we don’t even know we had – is genre-less.  The work of Slava Grigoryan with collaborator Al Slavik, is a triumph of unrestricted musical inspiration.”…Beat Magazine.

Slava Grigoryan
Regarded as a wizard of the guitar, Slava has forged a prolific reputation as a classical guitar virtuoso.  Collaborations have played a huge part in Grigoryan’s career, most notable of these are in the trio with legendary USA guitarist Ralph Towner and Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel and the duo with brother Leonard Grigoryan.   He has received 4 ARIA awards and an incredible 24 ARIA Award nominations.  Two of his ARIA Awards were in consecutive years for his project Bach Cello Suites Vols I & II.  His international touring schedule has seen him perform throughout Europe, Asia, and the USA, as well as more exotic performances in Brazil, South Africa, India and the Middle East. Slava is the Artistic Director of the Adelaide Guitar Festival, a position he held from 2009 – 2025.

Al Slavik
Al Slavik is an LA-based composer and producer, known especially for his work on the electric bass.

Originally from Vienna, he has built a career that spans pop, rock, and jazz, both as a solo artist and in collaboration with other well-known musicians.  As a session musician Slavik has recorded and performed with European and international artists, including Alphaville, Adrian Belew, and with band members from Depeche Mode, Sting, Level 42 and many others.
